ABAP Program as a JAVA Script Editor, Compiler and Execution

By Anirban Bhattacharjee, KPIT Cummins and Infosystems

Purpose: The purpose of the document is to demonstrate how an ABAP Program can be created to act as JAVA Script Editor, Compiler and Execution of the Script.

Use and need: This demonstrates how we can easily integrate JAVA Components with ABAP and also shows how powerful the ABAP Programming Language is.

Process: SAP has given us a list of programs to demonstrate how we can integrate JAVA with ABAP.

Run the program DEMO_JAVA_SCRIPT_MINI_EDITOR in SE38

The output of the program is shown below

You can see that the program comes loaded at the editor section with a sample JAVA Script Code.

We will now execute the program. This is how we will run JAVA Scripts in this JAVA Editor.

The below screen shot demonstrates how a JAVA Script runs in ABAP and displays a Message Prompt

We can also load our own scripts by clicking the LOAD button as shown

Notice that you even have the option to CHECK for inconsistencies in the script.

Clicking on STOP allows you to debug.
